Laugh and Learn...A Must Read!

I've long believed this author needed to be on a comedy stage and not at the reference desk of your public library. Little did I know that his career with books in the library would result in yet another laugh out loud masterpiece! "I've Seen It All at the Library" made me laugh and taught me things I didn't know about the American Library System. It is the kind of book that should be a must read for high school and college students. They wouldn't want to put it down, just like I didn't! Thanks, Jonathan for adding another book to my list of favorites!

I worked with jon and most of the folks he wrote about. It brought back many funny moments and I shed some tears when I read about myself. My story happened at a very sad time in my life and yet jon brought a smile to my face that day. Even if you dont know anyone in the book but have worked at a library you will enjoy the humor. Good job jon. Looking forward to book two!!!!

Great book for learning Spring MVC

This is a great book. I bought this book a little over a month ago from Amazon.com after having bought and run through a few other books trying to learn Spring MVC. This book is just the right pace for me with clear step-by-step directions and detailed explanations of the code. I am a quarter-way through the book and using the sample code in the book as a template for the web site I am building.

This is a very good, concise, well written book on not just Spring, but M2 method of development, and spring MVC testing. The chapters on request validation, JSTL forms explained just deep enough to give you what you need, without putting you to sleep.

The appendix on setting up your Spring Tool Suite is one of the best I have ever read. It was designed to get you set up and running in no time.

The first edition of this book is equally good, except it's missing the chapter on application testing. In today's world of TDD, this second edition is definitely the better deal.

I usually enjoy books from Ms. Monkou, but this book was the worst book that I've read by her. It took too long in my opinion for the development of the characters and the pace of the book was entirely too slow. This book was a real disappointment.

Nebraska native Stew Magnuson is the author of The Death of Raymond Yellow Thunder: And Other True Stories from the Nebraska-Pine Ridge Border Towns (Texas Tech University Press), 2009 Nebraska nonfiction book of the year, Wounded Knee 1973: Still Bleeding (Now & Then Reader) The Last American Highway: A Journey Through Time Down U.S. Route 83: The Dakotas, and the novel, The Song of Sarin. He has traveled to 48 countries, all 50 states, and has worked as a foreign correspondent in Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan. He is currently managing editor of National Defense Magazine in Arlington, Virginia.

Armchair Travel At Its Best!

Armchair travel at its best. Stew makes an amiable and interesting travel companion. Surprising facts and characters with every curve of the road. Makes me want to hop in a car and hit the road. Looking forward to the final installment of Stew's Route 83 chronicles - Texas!

Even for someone who's never been to Nebraska or seen the Sand Hills, I say Stew's book is a terrific read, surely capturing the feel and character of the land and its people. Well worth the cover price.

"The Garden Gate" is the companion sheet music book to Greg Maroney's 2009 CD by the same name. Greg did the transcriptions himself (and I edited), so these are the sheet music versions right from the composer's own hands! Because of the improvisations and changes made during performance, not all of these pieces are note-for-note the same as the recording, but they are very close. There are thirteen tracks on the CD and the book contains fifteen pieces because Greg was kind enough to offer simplified versions of "Romance" and "Fall," which are both in C#; the intermediate versions are in C. Maroney is an amazing pianist, so these pieces are not simple, but they are not impossibly advanced, either. Pianists with early-advanced skills should be able to master all of these pieces without much trouble.

None of the pieces in this collection have the powerful dramatic impact of "Elementals" or "Nature's Fury," but there are a variety of styles and ranges of expression that are a lot of fun to play. I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the entire book last night, and know that this collection will bring other pianists many, many hours of pleasure and years of enjoyment. The book is spiral bound and has a beautiful reproduction of the artwork from the CD on the cover. The music notation is clear, clean, and roomy, making it easy to read. Expression is noted and metronome indications are given. This is an excellent sheet music collection, and I recommend it highly!
