My students love this book. It's style as the author's field journal invites them to experience all the ups and downs of ethnography. The Pume become real to them, part of their permanent repertoire as young anthropologists. A good read!

This book was required reading for an Anthropology class. It's an ethnography told in a personal and poignant way. Pei-Lin shares with us her daily journal entries. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned much about the Pume culture at the same time.

Not what I expected

I was required to read this book in my cultural anthropology class and expected it to be a boring book. I was completely wrong, the book was really interesting and I couldn't stop reading till I hit the last page!
